The Boats in the Archipelago

Two companies – "Waxholmsbolaget" and "Cinderella" – traffic the islands Grinda, Finnhamn, and Sandhamn. Some boats have restaurants, some cafés.

The time to the island from Vaxholm:

  • Grinda 35–60 min depending of which boat you take

  • Finnhamn 2,5–3 hours (only Waxholmsbolaget)

  • Sandhamn 1,5 hours with the company Cinderella (longer with the Waxholmsbolaget).

One boat from Waxholmsbolaget – "Storskär" (the Big Islet) – is a beautiful, cultural heritage boat well worth a trip on.

Waxholmsbolaget

The Waxholmsbolaget traffics the archipelago the all year round, but not to all jetties off-season. The boats look like “archipelago boats”. This can be an experience in its own.

You find Waxholmsbolaget’s timetables by clicking on the buttom below. Though, the English version doesn’t direct you to the travel planner (“Reseplaneraren”) in English. Thus, use this translation here.

Cinderella

The company Strömma Turism & Sjöfart AB runs the Cinderella-boats. They are faster, more modern, and more expensive than the ones from Waxholmsbolaget.

The company operates from early spring (May) to autumn (mid-October).

She operates from May–September. You find her in the timetable by looking for the boat-names in the search results.
